Our Story

2014

The Idea

After having realised first-hand that there was a growing demand in China for overseas products and services but no easy technology solution to address it, Nicolas, while global President at Orbitz Worldwide discussed for the first time with his friend Allen Qu how they could build a platform to help connect the Chinese demand with the rest of the world. The idea behind Sinorbis was born (Sina=China, Orbis=World).

2015

The Transition to the new Venture

After leaving Orbitz Worldwide following its acquisition by Expedia for US$1.6Bn in October, Nicolas flew to China to present the business to Dandan. After much discussion and a couple of glasses of wine, she decided to join the founding team as Sinorbis’ COO.

2016

Hello World

The company started its operations in February, secured $1.6m from early investors and opened offices in Sydney, Shanghai and Colombo. Dhruv Parashar joined the founding team as CTO, leading the efforts to build Sinorbis’s state of the art cloud-based marketing platform.

2017

The platform is live!

The company secured a second fund raising round of $2.3m and form its advisory board composed of highly respected thought leaders. The first version of its innovative cloud-based marketing platform was commercialised in July.

2018

Market validation

Sinorbis gains significant traction and signs a diverse client portfolio, ranging from sole traders all the way to ASX Top 15 organisations with 30% of clients coming from overseas. The company’s bid to connect Australian businesses with Chinese consumer demand receives another vote of confidence in the form of $4m in Series A funding led by Jelix Ventures.

The software also receives the Australian Business Awards for New Product Innovation, the Mumbrella Award for Marketing Technology Company of the Year and makes the top 20 in the Anthill Smart 100 Index.
