Lancaster University engages Chinese students by establishing their digital presence
Lancaster University is a top 15 university in the UK, and top 150 in the world. As a proudly international university, Asia is a very important market for Lancaster, particularly China, which is a priority country for Lancaster. We spoke to Lancaster University’s Head of International Student Recruitment, Mutty Dad, about how Sinorbis helped Lancaster establish their digital presence in China.
“Before the pandemic and before Sinorbis, we didn't have a digital presence in China. Sinorbis was a really good fit for Lancaster” said Dad, “What this really allowed us to do, was to control our strategy and presence within the Chinese market.” “So the types of services that we've used with them (Sinorbis) is our big online website, that is our digital presence within China,” said Dad. Lancaster University’s newly created Chinese website quickly become a key part of their strategy within China.
“What we tried to do is engage our students by getting them to engage with our members of staff in China through questions about their courses and why they might want to study at Lancaster,” said Dad. With the continuous engagement on their website and WeChat, this allowed Lancaster to stay at the forefront of Chinese students minds.
“One of the key benefits of working with Sinorbis has been our ability to see where our students are engaging from within China, said Dad, allowing the team to strategise within each region.

Through the years, Sinorbis has helped Lancaster navigate their digital engagement strategy and the environment in China. “Sinorbis understand Lancaster; they understand the team at Lancaster,” said Dad.
